Posted Feb 06, 2017, Updated Jul 09, 2024 This vegan chocolate fondue is a delicious recipe to make for date night, Valentine’s Day or any special occasion. It’s easy to make in 5 minutes either on the stovetop or in a high-powered blender! It’s lusciously creamy, irresistibly chocolatey, and the possibilities for dippers are endless.

Vegan Chocolate Fondue: Substitutions

Coconut Cream: Coconut milk or dairy-free milk are good substitutes.  Granulated Sugar: You can use any granulated sugar (I have tried raw organic sugar and coconut sugar with great results), maple syrup, or honey (not vegan). The best results are achieved using granulated sugar! Chocolate Chips: Use any chopped chocolate or chip variety of your liking. My absolute favorites are Ghirardelli 60% dark chocolate chips

Vegan Chocolate Options

How to Make Vegan Chocolate Fondue

This vegan chocolate fondue can be made in two ways – either on the stovetop or in the blender. We’ll walk through both options step-by-step, and don’t forget to watch the video.

On the Stovetop

To make on the stovetop, begin by combining the coconut cream, cocoa powder, sugar and salt in a medium saucepan. Then, heat over medium heat until the mixture just begins to boil (bubbles on the sides of the pan). Then add the chocolate and vanilla and whisk until smooth.

Use a Vitamix

To make this recipe, put most of the ingredients in the Vitamix and blend for 1 minute. This will heat up the wet ingredients just in time to add the chocolate and blend for 4 more minutes. As the mixture continues to heat up, the chocolate will melt and the mixture will become velvety smooth. Once the fondue has reached a creamy consistency, add a splash of vanilla, pulse and serve.

Serve

Pour the vegan chocolate fondue into a fondue pot to keep it warm, or in a small serving bowl. You can keep it warm by lighting a tea candle under a serving bowl, or putting it on a warmer. The recipe thickens as it cools, so it’s important to keep it warm or eat it quickly.

What to Dip in Vegan Chocolate Fondue

Here are some suggestions on what to dip in this dairy free chocolate fondue.

Fresh fruit (pineapple, strawberries, oranges, raspberries, blackberries, kiwi, banana, etc.) Rice crispy treats Cookies (chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, etc.) Marshmallows (make your own homemade marshmallows) Brownies (black bean brownies, flourless brownies, the best homemade brownies, Greek yogurt brownies). Pretzels, peanut butter filled pretzels Nuts Angel food cake Graham crackers Potato chips
