Using fresh lime juice (and orange juice if possible) only takes an extra 30 seconds and really sets this drink apart from the rest! The perfect summer drink!
I don’t drink a lot of sweet sugary drinks but I do love a good refreshing cocktail or margarita from time to time! This is one of my favorites… I do drink margaritas in Mexico and lately, I’ve been ordering one if we go out for a girls night! This Sunny Orange Margarita is really good, slightly sweet, a little tart and VERY refreshing! The key to making this Orange Margarita recipe go from good to amazing is using fresh juice (especially the lime juice)! If you’ve never tasted fresh lime juice next to bottled lime juice you’d be completely amazed at the difference. Bottled lime juice is acidic, sour and bitter whereas fresh lime juice is very tart and yet slightly sweet without the bitter undertones. This recipe uses only 1 ounce of lime juice which is about 1 whole lime so it’s totally worth it to buy an extra lime for this recipe!
A quick tip on juicing limes… I make mojitos by the pitcher-full so I actually use an electric juicer (they’re pretty inexpensive) and do a few bags of limes from Costco all at once. I portion them and freeze the juice so I always have it ready.
Juicing Tip:
When you are juicing just one lime you can use a simple wood reamer which is something I use frequently. OR you can just cut the lime in half, stick a fork into the fruit and start squeezing while rocking the fork back and forth. Works perfectly and no special tools needed. I know a salted rim on a margarita isn’t for everyone… but I personally love it! You can salt the rim, use sugar or just skip it altogether. Items You’ll Need For This Recipe
