I can’t get enough fresh summer fruit right now. Cantaloupe, watermelon, cherries, and of course sooo many berries! I wish the summer produce season could last all year long! This strawberry whipped cream recipe is the perfect summertime treat. It’s made with 4 ingredients and is ready in under 5 minutes! Plus it’s gluten-free! Usually I’m a chocolatey dessert person, but lately I have been very into fruity treats, like this strawberry whipped cream! I literally ate it by the spoonful, it’s just that delicious. I served it on top of both sponge cakes and cupcakes, but it would also be amazing on brownies, ice cream, or your favorite cake {like angel food, YUM}!
This is such a simple recipe with an amazingly delicious end result. Here are a few notes on to make this strawberry whipped cream recipe, with directions for using both the Vitamix Aer Disc Container AND a standing mixer.
Using the Vitamix Aer Disc Container
It takes literally 60 seconds to make this strawberry whipped cream if you use the Vitamix Aer Disc Container. Simply add the ingredients listed into the container, blend for 60 seconds and presto. You have delicious, fluffy, strawberry whipped cream that you will want to eat straight from the blender! Use the tamper. It is very important, when making this strawberry whipped cream recipe, to use the tamper to constantly press the ingredients down into the disc. This will ensure that all the strawberries reach the disc and get evenly distributed throughout the whipped cream, so you are not left with large chunks!
Using a Standing Mixer
If using a standing mixer you will need to make this recipe differently…
Notes for both methods:
Whipping cream must be heavy & cold! I cannot stress enough how important this is. To make the absolute best whipped cream, you must use the variety labeled “Heavy Whipping Cream.” It also must be super cold. Do not buy it from the store, transport it home in your hot car and go right into making the recipe. Make sure it has chilled thoroughly in the fridge for at least 3-4 hours before trying to whip it! Make sure strawberries are washed and dried completely. We do not want to add any water to this strawberry whipped cream recipe. So before chopping your fresh strawberries, make sure they are completely dry! Piping. If you would like to pipe this on cupcakes, pies, brownies, etc. please be sure to use an extra large coupler/tip. There will be small chunks of strawberries (YUM) which will get stuck in the smaller decorating tips.
Helpful Tools used to make Strawberry Whipped Cream
Vitamix Blender. It’s no surprise that I make just about everything in my Vitamix, even this strawberry whipped cream! It’s the best and I couldn’t live without mine! Even if you don’t have the Aer Disc Container, I still recommend blending/processing the strawberries before incorporating them into the whipped cream if you’re using a standing mixer to make this recipe. Vitamix Aer Disc Container. However, in order to make whipped cream in the Vitamix you need the Aer Disc container. I really, really love this particular Vitamix accessory, and if you are like me and use your blender for just about everything, it’s definitely a worthy purchase! or, a Standing Mixer. Before the Aer, I always made whipped cream in my standing mixer. I included steps to using a standing mixer both in the recipe card and in the section above! Small Spatula (my FAVORITES). I have small white spatulas that I use for everything. Seriously I think I currently have four in use in my kitchen, and another handful on hand in storage for when I inevitably beat one up so badly it needs to be replaced. I like these because it’s easy to fill a piping bag with them! It looks like Crate & Barrel no longer makes them (NOOOO!!!), but I found this red one that is very similar in size and shape! Piping bags. If you want to pipe this strawberry whipped cream onto a cake, pie, brownies, etc. I recommend using piping bags. I prefer disposable bags because I usually feel like I just can’t get my reusable ones all the way clean! Large tips & Couplers. Because there will be delicious chunks of fresh strawberries in this strawberry whipped cream, I recommend using large couplers and large tips. If you use the standard size it’s likely the strawberry chunks will blog/clog them!
Strawberry Whipped Cream: Ingredients & Substitutions
As aways, let’s chat about the {four} ingredients and possible substitutions in this strawberry whipped cream recipe.
Heavy Whipping Cream. The quality of whipping cream you choose to make this recipe truly matters! I tested it six times, and got the best results with the Kroger brand of heavy whipping cream! All the other brands worked well, but the Kroger brand was the thickest straight from the bottle, it whipped the fastest and tasted the best! Strawberries. Again, quality matters. Try to find super sweet, red, ripe berries to use in this strawberry whipped cream recipe. Since strawberries have a higher water content than other berries (like raspberries), I used only 1/2 cup. If you would like to substitute other berries like raspberries, blackberries, etc. You could increase the amount to up to 1 cup! Powdered Sugar. There’s really no substitute here. You could make your own paleo powdered sugar, but whipping cream isn’t paleo so I recommend just using the regular stuff! I tried MANY different sweeteners (including honey, maple syrup, etc.) and none of them worked (I had to turn those batches into ice cream instead of whipped cream lol)! I do not recommend any substitutions for the powdered sugar! Vanilla Extract. If you want to get extra fancy (and tasty), substitute vanilla beans or vanilla bean paste for the extract! You won’t be sorry you did!
