Ingredients/Variations
Only a couple of ingredients are needed to make this delicious veggie dish! GREEN BEANS Fresh green beans have a nice tender-crisp texture, but feel free to use frozen if that’s what you have on hand! The texture will be a bit softer but the flavor will still be delicious. BROTH A little bit of chicken broth is used to sautee (and flavor!) the green beans. If you don’t have broth, a sprinkle of chicken bouillon powder with a bit of water works well. SEASONINGS Salt & pepper, garlic & chili flakes perfectly season these green beans! VARIATIONS These green beans can be seasoned with any spices on hand! Try Cajun seasoning, seasoned salt or Italian seasoning!
How to Saute Green Beans
To saute just to means to fry quickly. This is definitely one of the easiest side dishes, and ready to serve in minutes! Whether served alongside chicken cutlets, beef stroganoff, or chicken cordon bleu, a perfectly sautéed side of fresh green beans brings out the best in any recipe!
Got Frozen Beans?
Frozen green beans will work since they are usually flash frozen. Feel free to pop them in the saute pan while still frozen, they will take a little longer to cook and the broth may need more time to evaporate. You can also let the beans thaw out naturally then drain them before sauteeing.
Perfect Green Beans Every Time
To trim fresh green beans, wash them and pat dry. Sort and line them up on a cutting surface, exposing the knobby ends. Use a sharp knife to cut those pieces off. If the beans are large or long, they can be cut in half. Do not overcook the beans, they’re best with a tender-crisp texture. Fresh garlic can burn, it’s best added to this recipe during the last couple of minutes. Leftover green beans will last in the fridge for 5-7 days. Sauteed green beans can also be frozen in a zippered bag with the date written on it. They should last about a month in the freezer. The flavor will be great but the texture will soften.
