Maple Glazed Salmon: Ingredients & Substitutions

Wild Caught Salmon. The quality of your salmon truly matters. I suggest wild-caught, organic salmon for the best results. Maple Syrup. I don’t suggest making substitutions here, although honey does work. Soy Sauce. Use a gluten-free option if necessary, also coconut aminos is a good soy-free option. Dijon Mustard. choose your favorite mustard variety. Minced Garlic. Freshly minced or jarred garlic both work well. You can also substitute 1 teaspoon garlic powder for the 1 tablespoon minced garlic.

How to Make Maple Salmon

Let’s walk through the recipe step-by-step, and don’t forget to watch the video! Begin by preparing the marinade. Whisk the maple syrup, soy sauce, mustard and minced garlic together in a small bowl. Then, place the salmon in a shallow glass baking dish, and coat with the maple syrup mixture. Cover the dish, and marinate salmon in the refrigerator for 30-60 minutes, turning once halfway through. Note: you don’t have to marinate the salmon if you are short on time, however I always recommend marinating meat/seafood. Once the salmon is marinated, flip it once more time and leave it in the baking dish. Then, lightly sprinkle the top of each piece of salmon with salt and pepper and put the baking dish in the preheated oven. Bake the salmon uncovered for 15-20 minutes, or until easily flaked with a fork and the internal temperature is 125-135 degrees F. Please note salmon thickness. Make sure to take the thickness of your salmon into account and bake 10 minutes per inch of thickness. Remove the maple salmon from the oven and spoon some of the glaze over the top of each piece of salmon.
