It’s totally unnecessary to peel tomatoes that are going to be eaten raw but if you’re cooking or canning tomatoes, you might like to peel them. If you have used tomatoes in any type of cooked dish you may have noticed that sometimes the skins can have a texture that isn’t great. But really, who wants to sit around peeling tomatoes all day long? Not me! The good news is that you can quickly and easily peel tomatoes in seconds. (This method also works perfectly for peaches too). Peeled tomatoes are perfect for all kinds of recipes including tomato sauce, soups, stews and of course i tomato pie!How to Peel Tomatoes Another method I’ve used (that doesn’t not work for peaches) is using tongs to hold the tomato over the flame on a gas stove just for a couple of seconds. You will see the area slightly blister (and possibly pop). Be sure to cover all areas as the skin will stick to any areas you may have missed. This is an easy method if you’re just doing a couple of tomatoes but not the best option if you’re doing a lot. Find more great kitchen ideas and tips here!
