Posted Jun 03, 2024 I would definitely label myself as a smoothie connoisseur, and I love creating delicious healthy smoothie recipes like this greek yogurt smoothie. Smoothies have always been my go to during busy or stressful times in life, pregnancy, postpartum, new job, etc. They are my go-to when I need a nourishing meal or snack, fast. This greek yogurt smoothie recipe is a great choice because it’s loaded with antioxidants, nutrients and protein. It’s easy to make in under 5 minutes with 5 ingredients, is irresistibly creamy and delicious!

Greek Yogurt Smoothie Ingredients & Substitutions

Milk. Any milk variety works well. whole milk, 2%, almond milk, coconut milk, etc. Greek yogurt. Use full-fat plain or vanilla flavored greek yogurt for the best results. Frozen berries. choose your favorite. You can use only one type of berry, a mix, or even a mixed berry blend. Suggestions include but are not limited to: strawberries, blackberries, cherries, raspberries, etc. Frozen Banana. using frozen banana & berries makes the smoothie thick and creamy without adding ice. Honey. if your berries are sweet, you many not need to add the honey. Maple syrup and agave are great substitutes. Spinach. if desired you can add 1 cup of spinach or greens of your choice – just note it will change the smoothie color.

How to Make a Greek Yogurt Smoothie

This recipe is very simple, but as always we will walk through the process together and you can watch the video for further guidance.

Use a Vitamix

For the best smoothies I recommend using a Vitamix blender. Check out this Vitamix Buying Guide to learn why I chose Vitamix 10+ years ago and never looked back!  Begin by putting the ingredients in the order listed in the container of a Vitamix (or another high-powered blender).

Optional Mix-ins

Add some of these ingredients for little boosts of nutrition and flavor, if you’d like!

Greens. Add kale, spinach, etc. Protein powder. Adding a scoop of vanilla protein powder is a great choice. Chia seeds.  for some extra protein and fiber, add 1 tablespoon chia seeds and drink the smoothie immediately.  Nut butter. some cashew butter or almond butter (or homemade vanilla almond butter) are great choices. Bee Pollen. I love putting this in my smoothies for flavor and nutrients.

Then, blend, starting on low speed and increasing to high for 40-60 seconds or until the mixture is smooth.

Serve

Once you have finished blending, pour the greek yogurt smoothie into 1 to 4 glasses (depending on who you’re sharing it with) and serve immediately.

Store/Freeze

Store leftover greek yogurt smoothie in a glass jar with a lid for up to 1 day in the refrigerator or 1 month in the freezer. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator.
